April was a fun month. We celebrated two birthdays, Katelyn had a few firsts, and Madison was lots of fun. I usually take about 1 - 1.5 GB's of photos and videos. In April, I took 11. So, this blog post will be a photo and video overload. I'm sorry if I make you waste all day reading it. :)
To start off, we'll cover birthdays.
Here's Brian and his cake. Madison was excited to help blow out candles.
Here's Madison helping Brian open his present. Notice that she claims the second bag of Cheetos for herself and that she keeps whacking Brian in the face with the tissue paper. :)
Madison was excited to help Daddy make breakfast for Mommy's birthday a week later even though she doesn't look like it in the picture.
Impressive birthday breakfast. One of our new favorites.
Breakfast in bed with the girls!
The first exciting first for Katelyn in April was eating solids! Here she is ready to start.
Here are her first bites. She was eating avocados. She now enjoys avocados, sweet potato, bananas, apples, zucchini, and pears. She tolerates when we add rice and oatmeal to them. :)
Madison has really enjoyed that Katelyn can eat solids. She loves helping. This was her first time helping. I had gone into the other room to stir our dinner and came out to find Madison feeding Katelyn. They both were loving it.
This is what was happening a few minutes later. Isn't it adorable!
Katelyn got to swing for the first time in April. Here are some fun park pictures/video.
Katelyn is getting bigger every day! At the end of April, she had mastered sitting and was moving onto getting onto her hands and knees. She generally went through a pattern of sitting, reaching forward til she was on her hands and knees for a second before her knees slid out and she was on her tummy. She'd stay there for a few minutes and then either get mad or roll onto her back (still not a common occurrence). She had not rolled from back to tummy.
Here she is playing at Grandma and Papa's house.
Katelyn loves to laugh. Madison loves to have her picture taken.
Trying to reach the camera.
Mommy playing dress-up with her girl. :)
Cutie
We were lucky to have Great-Grandma Wright come visit for a few days at the end of April to watch Brad get his Eagle Scout award. Katelyn was excited to finally meet her great-grandma!
Madison especially loved that Uncle Brent came to see Brad's big moment too. She loved playing with him!
Madison is a lot of fun. Here she is singing with Mommy.
Madison has an obsession with going in circles, so running with this train is so fun.
Madison is really starting to enjoy arts and crafts. We were bored one day, so decided to do some pudding painting. Madison really enjoyed making a mess and getting to lick up some of the pudding at the end.
I love the tongue out concentration!
Madison's pretend play is really improving. Here she is playing with her little people castle. She tells Dopey that they're going to have his "favorite" thing for dinner and then talks to Grumpy.
Madison's pretend play has involved a lot of baby pretending. Here she is breastfeeding her baby.
And here she is spoon feeding her baby.
The baby is even buckled into the booster seat.
Here's a video.
And in this follow-up she cleans up.
Madison still loves being outside and would stay there all day if she could. Here she is riding her bike with Daddy's helmet on our balcony. Notice that she's wearing her apron. She still loves helping in the kitchen.
We decided that Katelyn needed to do some crying to learn that she doesn't get to eat all night long (she was still eating 2-3 times a night until the week before she turned 6 months). Since letting Katelyn cry with Madison in the room doesn't really work, we let Madison "camp" in the living room or in our room while Katelyn cried.
Madison was so excited to sleep on the floor with Mommy and Daddy. She was a little less excited the next night when Mommy and Daddy decided that sleeping on the floor is a lot more fun as a kid than an adult and chose to sleep in bed instead. But she still enjoyed it.
The day after Katelyn turned 6 months she slept for 11 hours straight. She hasn't quite done that again, but usually only wakes up once for a binky.
Madison and Katelyn are so fun to watch interacting. Here Madison wants Katelyn to suck on her finger.
Katelyn really loves the mirror in their room. Madison loves playing with Katelyn.
Our weather has been crazy, jumping up to mid-90s and falling back to low 70s. The girls were so excited during one of the warm spells to go to the pool. Katelyn is mostly not a fan of the water. She cries when you first put her in, but then gets used to it.
Nana made Madison a darling quilt when she was a baby and sent Katelyn her quilt in our birthday/Easter package. The girls both love the quilts and I do too!

Katelyn's animal quilt
All smiles!
We are terrible parents and didn't take a picture of the girls together in their Easter dresses. We'll try to grab one next time they wear them. But here are a bunch of pictures/videos from Easter and our egg hunts in the week before Easter.
Ready to hunt
Madison and her best friend Brandon, who's going to move away in August. :(

Hunting at another hunt
Easter morning, coming out of her room and seeing the eggs "hidden" around the apartment.

Enjoying the spoils
Katelyn enjoyed Easter morning too.
Another hunt at Grandma and Papa's house. Madison really enjoyed Easter this year! :) We limited how many eggs she could get at the previous hunts, so notice that she decides she has enough at the end of the video.
Katelyn enjoyed Easter at Grandma's too.
Wow, I hope that blog post didn't kill you! Here are too more cute pictures of our girls to end!
