March

 March was a fairly normal month for us.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  So here are a whole ton of ordinary photos.  Madison and Katelyn are so much fun.  Katelyn is now 5 months and a pro-sitter, but she refuses to roll over.
Katelyn could sit forever with the boppy pillow behind her.  Eventually she reaches for something in front of her and flops onto her tummy or wiggles enough to lay back on the pillow.

 The other day, Katelyn sat unassisted for 15 minutes.  She is really getting good at it!

 Katelyn is very happy most of the day, but is a terrible sleeper.  She still wakes up 3-5 times a night.  Sometimes a binky will calm her, but usually she wants to eat a snack to fall back asleep.  She had two colds this month, which definitely didn't help.  We're going to start solid foods soon and we hope that will help her sleeping habits.

Not sleeping well at night makes her extra sleepy sometimes during the day.  She loves this activity center.  She didn't love her swing, so I'm so grateful that I have a place to set her for half an hour and she stays happy (or falls asleep). :)

 Katelyn tries to grab everything in sight.  I have to be really careful when I hold her because she'll grab whatever I'm holding.  She's made me almost drop or spill things many times. :)  She loves to have something in her hands.  I think she gets that from me.

She is a really happy baby for most of the day.  This is good because it helps us like her more each day after being so annoyed at night.  :)

We've had an extremely mild winter, but our spring can't decide what is happening.  We rock back and forth between highs in the low 60's to highs in the low 90's (both are in the forecast for the coming week).  One of the peaks fell on a Saturday, so we went to the pool.  Katelyn is a little small to get in the water (she screamed when we dipped her toes in the cold pool), so she sat on the edge with Mommy, hiding from the sun. 

It's a lot of fun to see Katelyn's emerging personality.  She is a great observer.  She has been very attentive her whole life.  She learned to sit up so early because she wants to see everything that is going on in the room.  She especially likes watching Madison.  We sure love her!

Now for some sister pictures!  Madison is so good with Katelyn.  She occasionally knocks her over because she is too loving.  But most of Madison's actions are very nice and soft.  Madison is struggling with sharing, and I'm sure that will be more and more of a problem as Katelyn can get to and take Madison's toys.  Another thing Madison doesn't want to miss is the spotlight.  Every time we're taking pictures of Katelyn, Madison runs over to join. 

Stories at bedtime.

Here are the girls and our friend Noah.  He's a new big brother to twins, so he's spent a few mornings or afternoons with us recently.  I started taking pictures of Katelyn sitting while Madison and Noah were playing.  Madison noticed and ran over to sit down next to Katelyn.  Then, Noah couldn't be left out of the fun, so he sat down too.  Madison is such a cheese that there weren't any pictures of all three kids smiling, but here were two of the best. 

This is SO Madison.  She loves looking through things.  Anything that has a hole or is transparent or translucent is her idea of fun.

Now a few pictures of Madison alone.  Madison is getting to be a real copycat.  She wants to do anything that Mommy or Daddy are doing.  Here she is trying out Mom's breastpump on her tummy. 

Madison is also very creative.  Brian handed Madison her dress to put on for church, finished what he was doing in the room and came out to find this.  He's not sure if she put the stick up just to put the dress on it, or already had the stick up already and decided it looked like a good place for a dress.

Madison is also the queen of association.  When we watch a movie that she has a coordinating toy for, she has to have the toy with her.  For example, the other day we watched Snow White.  She needed to have her two Snow White little people and her 7 dwarves before we could watch the movie.  If we watch Frozen, she needs her snowman toy (it's not Olaf, but it's a snowman so it counts to her).  If we watch Polar Express, she needs to have her toy train.  She has stuffed animals for Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo.  It's cute that she realizes her toys are from the movies. 

Madison has also had some trouble sleeping.  She sometimes wakes up before 6 and is ready to get up for the day.  Most days she wakes up between 6:15 and 6:30.  We decided that it's a little too early for us when we've been up half the night with Katelyn.  So, Madison got a new alarm clock.  It turns green when it's time to get up.  She is really good at sitting in bed (though not quietly) until the clock turns green.  She picks it up and runs out of the room saying "Green! Green!"  Isn't it cute?

Madison has a particular way she sleeps.  She has to have Winnie the Pooh on one side and baby and bunny on the other side.  But no toys are allowed to touch her. And the blanket has to be tucked in around the toys.  It can be hard to arrange.

Madison dresses very oddly at times.  Silly girl.

 Now a few fun crafty pictures.  I made these pies for Pi Day and then a visit to the Cannons.  I got to use my new pastry punches for the first time.  It was fun.

I made these lightning bugs for Madison.  She really enjoyed destroying them. :)

Making this spring wreath gave me a nasty blister on my finger.  But it turned out great.

I made these cute letters to decorate the girls' room.  There are very few decorations in their room, so it's nice to have something.
