The Wright Way: Katie Beth

We had another birthday during my blog break. Katelyn turned 1! She is sure not a baby anymore.

Katelyn is a pro walker. By mid-September, she was stringing together 10 or more steps. By the end of September, she was near perfect. Now, she never crawls. She still has a hard time over rough surfaces like wood chips or in new shoes.

Katelyn is a climber. For a while I was constantly rescuing her from the top of things. While we were visiting Utah in October we did a lot of practice going backwards down the stairs. She wasn't sure about turning around to go all the way down the stairs, but it did teach her to turn around to get down from the sofa or the table.

Katelyn loves to be involved in everything that happens. She has to see what's happening.

Katelyn loves making noise. We are calling her first word "baby". To her it means any small loveable object, dogs, stuffed animals, barbies, and Madison. Madison finds this highly offensive.

Katelyn is a good sound mimicker. It often sounds like she is saying what we are saying, but it's hard to tell if she knows what they mean. She tries to say "doggy", "fishy", and lots of other things. She loves dogs and fish. She loves going to the fish pond. She tries to climb into the pond to get the fish.

Katelyn really wants to comfort Madison if Madison is sad. She comes up and pats her and says "Baby".
Katelyn is not a snuggler. She can't sit still enough to give a snuggle.
Katelyn is a tease. She'll crawl somewhere and turn back to see if you're following. If you tell her no, she starts to do it again and laughs when you stop her.

Katelyn loves Daddy. She has been especially snuggly (which means 7 second snuggles) with him since he is done being busy. She runs to give him a hug when he comes home. But if she's crying at night, no one but Mommy can get her to calm down.
Katelyn loves books. She thinks they should all be touch and feel. She loves feeling the textures.
